Zolo's bedtime: daddy reads "The Runaway Mummy"

This series of pics speaks for itself. PS - Zolo really does like to rest his head on our shoulder when we read to him. It's adorable.

One of those days

Sometimes it's just a nose-sticker kind of day.

Zolo's new song.

Zolo has been composing his own songs lately. They're pretty cute - very reminiscent of auntie lisa's "strawberry song" in form, if not content. He is also potty-training, so he spends an awful lot of time contemplating his penis. Today, these two parts of zolo's life were merged, resulting in the production of "the penis song" (zolo explicitly said thats's what it's called). It goes like this: "penis, penis, penis. Penis, peeee-nis, PEEE-NIS. Penis, penis, penis." Repeat. Quite a lot. It should be understood that, in terms of performance art, this was serious stuff - zolo doesn't think the word "penis" is any funnier than the word "apple," and this production was every bit as serious as his nuanced performance of "twinkle, twinkle, little star" or the alphabet song.

Tycho has pointed out that I forgot to mention that zolo accompanied his own vocal performance with the rhythm of maracas, cleverly improvised by commandeering 2 handy bottles of antihistamine tablets. (By the way, zolo knew he was using maracas.) It was impressive.

I forgot one last feature of this impromptu performance - zolo was sitting on his potty (shaped like a throne), waiting to pee.

It was wonderful. We did not record it because we want our child to speak to us when he's 16. So - no pics for this post, but I hope u feel it was wrth reading, anyway.

Zolo wears a ballcap

So, I had forgotten zolo's sunglasses when we went to the playground today, and the sun is pretty bright when we walk. I solved the problem by finding his ballcap in my car. He was happy to wear it facing forward, at first, and then insisted on wearing it backwards.

Zolo's first gymnastics class

Well, we had our first gynmastics class today. I'll let you judge how it went. The picture below is zolo and some of his classmates (zolo is on the left, in the blue shirt). Notice how everyone else is sitting and listening? By the end, zolo had instigated rebellion, and none of the other boys were listening. It was a little embarassing.

Zolo at the playground (again)

We went to the playground again today, and zolo decided to tackle the tallest, most monstrous slide there. Its the only one he's never been down. And it's TALL. The first pic is the slide (camera held at my eye level and pointed up). The second is zolo mounting the high, high stairs. The third is zolo's hand as he slides down.

Zolo and his sunglasses

This was zolo the other day in the grocery store. He was managing to keep his sunglasses up on his head.

Crickets for hypnotoad

We bought crickets for our pet leopard frog hypnotoad and zolo carried them home.

Backlog of pictures

Well my daily posting slipped a week or two but at least now I have lots of pictures to post.

I captured this series of pics as Zolo got on his little scooty-car thing all by himself.

We start with an extended probing foot.

Then scoot the car in closer.

Grab the handle, and over the top!

Foomp! And into the seat without loosing the toy in his other hand.
