In memoriam: Kitty 1993-2010
Our beloved old Kitty of 17 years fell ill suddenly yesterday. We took him to the emergency vet last night where they ran some blood work but couldn't find a cause. He also recieved subcutaneous fluids and an antiemetic which seemed to help for a time. Unfortunately in time Kitty worsened and it was clear to us that he was in a lot of pain. So we decided to euthanize him and end his suffering.
Kitty lived a good long life and gave us much joy and love. We will always remember fondly his bed hogging ways and his irresistible 'pet me' face. We thank him for all the wonderful times he gave us and we hope he felt loved.
Farewell old friend.

Funny faces
So, I'm playing around with a new app on my phone for taking pictures. One of it's features is a 3-shot burst. This is really nice since I often feel like I miss things because the built in app is awkward and slow to recover between shots. Here are a couple of funny Zolo faces I got at dinner time today.

Video games fill the need for social competition
From Ars Technica:
full article
The next time your girlfriend, wife, or mother complains about all the time you spend playing PS3 or online games, you can tell her that your attraction to video games may actually be a by-product of evolution. Scientists at the University of Missouri have found that hormonal surges in men playing violent multiplayer videogames are very similar to hormonal responses males of other species experience during reproductive and territorial challenges. These responses may be evolutionarily hard-wired to help males succeed in coalitionary combat against competitors.

Daily picture 1
It may be a tough goal for me but, well here we go: Daily pictures of Zolo, our cats, our garden, or anything else I see fit! Sometimes the pics will be from my phone, others will be taken with my XTi.
These are from this past weekend when we all went out to dinner. Zolo was hungry but the wait to be seated was long so we sat down for a picnic on the grass.

But there were lots of exciting rocks to see too!

But then zolo got hungry so he'd eat another spoonful before running off to see the rocks again.

I think in the 20 minutes we waited he probably had 10 spoonfuls.
